Please make sure you always have the latest graphics driver installed. Always download the driver directly from the official manufacturer’s website, instead of automatically updating it through Windows. Another possible solution for this problem is to deactivate the In-Game-Overlay and GeForce Experience Highlights both provided by the GeForce Experience application, as well as all other In-Game-Overlays provided by other programs. In addition, please also check if deactivating V-Sync and setting the application’s priority in the task manager to high fixes the issue for you.

This often is an indicator for a corrupted save file. You can try to fix this problem by loading an older save file. You can do this by restarting the chapter you are playing through via the main menu. Please be aware that the autosave will be overwritten. However, quick saves will not, so in order to try this, please make sure you have at least one additional quick save created a short period before your latest one. Once you are in game, try to load that save file. If this method isn’t working, you unfortunately must replay the specific chapter. If the EPIC version of the game is started directly by clicking the MetroExodus.exe file in the game installation directory (bypassing the Epic launcher or shortcut) then the game is started in guest mode. New "guest" saves are created in the game directory, separate from your Epic connected saves. The two do not conflict or overwrite each other, but guest saves are not recognized when the game is started from the Epic Launcher, and vice versa.
